1. What is a domain name? ^ top

Your domain name (your-domain.com) is a unique address similar to a post box. The domain name directs visitors to your home page on the Internet. It can also be used as part of your e-mail address. For example: sales@your-domain.com.
Domain names are the familiar, easy to remember names for computers on the Internet (such as Domainregn.com). No two parties can hold the same domain name simultaneously, your domain name is completely unique. The domain name corresponds to a series of numbers called Internet Protocol numbers (IP numbers) that serve as routing addresses on the Internet. Domain names are used generally as a convenient way of locating information and reaching others on the Internet.

2. What are valid characters for a domain name and how long can it be? ^ top

Valid characters include letters, numbers, and hyphens. A hyphen may not begin or end a domain name. Spaces and special characters are not permitted in a domain name.
For example:
Domain.com (valid)
Do-main.com (valid)
-Domain.com (not valid)
doma&%n.com (not valid)

3. What does it mean to "register" a domain name? ^ top

The Internet Domain Name System (DNS) consists of a directory, organized hierarchically, of all the domain names and their corresponding computers registered to particular companies and persons using the Internet. When you register a domain name, it will be associated with the computer on the Internet you designate (DNS information) during the period the registration is in effect.

4. I already have a domain name, how can I renew it at Domain.com? ^ top

Renewal at Domainregn.com is simple so long as your domain name is more than 60 days old and has not expired. The process involves transferring your domain name from your existing registrar to Citec Asia / Domainregn.com. The process will not interrupt or effect your current registration. You will be charged and credited for one "1" year of registration (US$14.00).

5. Once I have registered a Domain Name how do I Modify: ^ top

My DNS? - See A) below
Administrative, Technical, and Billing information? - See B) below

To update information for an existing domain name, Click Here to Log In with your ID and password, then click the "Account Manager" button then the "Domain Manager" button. (For security reasons Registrant information can only be changed by the Registrar - see next topic).

A) Click the "Modify DNS Record" and choose the domain name for which you wish to modify the DNS. In the "New Name Servers" fields replace the existing information with the new DNS you wish to use.
Note - The DNS information can be obtained from your web host and must be exact.

B) Click the "Modify Contact Record" and choose the domain name for which you wish to modify the Administrative, Technical, or Billing information. In the "New Contact:" fields replace the existing information with the new information you wish to use.

6. How do I change Owner/Registrant information if I sell or transfer a domain name? ^ top

Our procedure is as follows: the current Owner/Registrant and the new Owner/Registrant execute a simple form wherein the current Owner/Registrant authorizes the Registrar to make the transfer. That form is available upon request from our support staff by using our Contact Us Form. Click Here to request the Owner/Registrant Transfer form. Once we have received the originally executed form, we will process the transfer (typically within 5 business days). You are free to transfer name ownership at any time according to this procedure -- there is no "waiting period" for ownership changes. Note, this service can only be performed on domain names for which Citec Asia / Domainregn.com is the Registrar (a technical parameter).

7. Will my name and contact information be publicly available? ^ top

Yes. Information about who is responsible for domain names is publicly available to allow rapid resolution of technical problems and to permit enforcement of consumer protection, trademark, and other laws. This information available to the public on the Domain.com "WhoIs" site.

8. How do I check a Domain Name is available? ^ top

There are several ways to check domain name availability and there are many web sites which provide search tools. However, because many domain names are managed by different Registries around the world, it is not possible to provide any guarantee that you will be the owner of a domain name until the actual time of registration.

The following web sites offer useful search tools:
http://www.allwhois.com/
http://www.nameboy.com/
http://www.networksolutions.com/
http://www.thainic.net/
http://registrar.verisign-grs.com/whois/

*Disclaimer: Domain name availability is dependant on the accuracy of the various databases of the above and other similar sites and their connections to the actual registry which manages that domain. The only way to assure ownership of a domain name is to register it properly with a reputable domain registration service. Domainregn.com and Citec Asia Co. Ltd. deny all liability for a domain name not being available at the time of registration.

9. How long does a registration last? Can it be renewed? ^ top

Currently an Owner/Registrant has the choice of 1,2,5, or 10 years for the initial registration period. Registrations which originated through Citec Asia / Domainregn.com can be renewed from one to ten years at a time.
Prior to a domain name expiring, Citec Asia / Domainregn.com will e-mail the administrative contact offering the option of renewal.

10. How much does it cost to register a domain name? ^ top

Domainregn.com currently offers a standard US$14 per year price for the term of registration you as the Registrant choose. Please check our Pricing Page for any changes and for detailed list of prices should they become applicable.

11. When do I have to pay for my domain name? ^ top

Before your domain name becomes active, you must provide a credit card number. Billing takes place on our Secure Server during the final step of the on-line domain registration process.

12. Someone else has registered my company's name as a .Com domain name. What is the process for resolving my complaint? ^ top

All ICANN-accredited Registrars follow a uniform dispute resolution policy. Under that policy, disputes over entitlement to a domain-name registration are ordinarily resolved by an expedited administrative procedure (called arbitration) to allow the dispute to be resolved without the cost and delays often encountered in court litigation. In these cases, you can invoke the administrative procedure by filing a complaint with one of the dispute-resolution service providers listed at http://www.icann.org/udrp/udrp.htm

13. What do .COM .NET and .ORG domain names signify? ^ top

Anyone may register the .Com, .Net, and .Org extensions. They are generic Top Level Domains (gTLD's) which are open to public registration. The best way to brand your on-line identity is to register your domain name in all three .Com, .Net and .Org.
All domains are available for registration by Internet users across the globe.

14. Do I receive an e-mail address with my domain name? ^ top

Currently Domainregn.com does not offer any e-mail services for domain names.
You receive e-mail with your Web Hosting account by signing up by Clicking Here at Citec Asia Web Hosting Services.

15. Once I have registered a Domain Name how do I get my site onto the Internet? Does Domainregn.com provide web space? ^ top

When registering a domain name you do not receive any web space on our servers. After you register your domain name you can arrange to for web hosting through your own choice of Web Hosting Service or arrange for web hosting with Citec Asia Co.Ltd. If you choose to use our Hosting Service, then you can input our DNS during the domain name registration process and save having to modify your DNS at a later time.

During the domain name registration process you will be prompted to enter either "Default" DNS or your own. If you are going to sign up for a web hosting account with Citec Asia, please enter the below DNS:
Primary Nameserver:
ns1.thehostserver.com
IP # 207.154.22.2
Secondary Nameserver:
ns2.thehostserver.com
IP #207.154.22.110

16. I have decided that I do not want the Domain Name I registered. Can I get a refund? ^ top

Unfortunately it is not possible to refund or cancel a domain name once registered. The ICANN / Netsol authorities have no mechanism for this. We do not refund domain name registration fees and the registration period can not be cancelled or shortened. When the registration period is over you can choose not to renew.
